- Prep Time: 20 minutes
- Total Time: 20 minutes (plus chilling time)
- Servings: 12
Ingredients:
- 1-2 store-bought angel food cakes, or homemade
- 1 (3.4 oz.) package instant vanilla pudding mix
- 1 1/2 cups cold milk
- 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
- 1 (21 oz.) can cherry pie filling, divided
- 1 (8 oz.) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
- Almond slivers, toasted if desired, for garnish
Preparation:
- Prepare Angel Food Cake: Cube the angel food cake(s) into bite-sized pieces.
- Make Pudding Mixture: In a large bowl, whisk together the vanilla pudding mix and cold milk until smooth. Fold in the Greek yogurt until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
- Layer the Cake: In a 9×13-inch baking dish, spread half of the cake cubes in an even layer. Top this layer with two-thirds of the cherry pie filling, spreading it out evenly.
- Add More Cake: Place the remaining cake cubes over the cherry layer.
- Add Pudding Layer: Pour the pudding mixture over the second layer of cake cubes, gently spreading it to cover the cake completely.
- Top with Whipped Topping: Spread the thawed whipped topping over the pudding layer with a rubber or offset spatula, creating a smooth, even layer.
- Garnish: Drizzle the remaining cherry pie filling over the whipped topping. Sprinkle slivered almonds across the top for a bit of crunch and visual appeal.
- Chill: Refrigerate the cake until ready to serve. This will allow the layers to set and the flavors to meld together.
