  • 1 pound elbow macaroni
  • 4 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon mustard powder

Instructions

 

  1. Preheat and Prepare Pasta: Set your oven to 350°F and cook the macaroni in boiling salted water until al dente, about 8 minutes. Drain well.
  2. Mix Cheeses and Pasta: In a large bowl, combine the al dente macaroni with three-quarters of the cheddar and all of the mozzarella.
  3. Create the Sauce: In another bowl, whisk together milk, cream, eggs, sour cream, butter, and spices until smooth.
  4. Combine and Bake: Pour the sauce over the pasta mixture, stir to combine, and transfer to a greased baking dish. Top with remaining cheddar.
  5. Bake to Perfection: Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden and bubbly. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
