Ritz Crackers

Ritz Crackers

This recipe is perfect for anyone looking to replicate the classic Ritz cracker at home.

  • Total Time: 32 minutes
  • Yield: Approx. 40 crackers

Ingredients

Scale

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 6 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2/3 cup water

Instructions

  1. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
  2. Incorporate Butter: Add the cold butter pieces to the flour mixture. Using a pastry blender or your fingers, cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Form the Dough: Stir in the vegetable oil and water until a dough forms.
  4. Knead and Roll Out: Turn the dough onto a floured surface. Knead gently until smooth, then roll out to about 1/8 inch thickness.
  5. Cut Out Crackers: Use a round cookie cutter to cut out the crackers. Transfer them to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  6. Prick Each Cracker: Prick each cracker with a fork to prevent puffing during baking.
  7. Bake: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake the crackers for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown and crisp.
  8. Cool and Store: Let the crackers cool on a wire rack. Store them in an airtight container to keep them crisp.
