Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 6 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2/3 cup water
Instructions
- Combine Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
- Incorporate Butter: Add the cold butter pieces to the flour mixture. Using a pastry blender or your fingers, cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Form the Dough: Stir in the vegetable oil and water until a dough forms.
- Knead and Roll Out: Turn the dough onto a floured surface. Knead gently until smooth, then roll out to about 1/8 inch thickness.
- Cut Out Crackers: Use a round cookie cutter to cut out the crackers. Transfer them to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Prick Each Cracker: Prick each cracker with a fork to prevent puffing during baking.
- Bake: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake the crackers for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown and crisp.
- Cool and Store: Let the crackers cool on a wire rack. Store them in an airtight container to keep them crisp.
