  • 1 pound ziti pasta
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

 

  1. Preheat Oven and Prepare Pasta: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook ziti until al dente, drain, and set aside.
  2. Prepare Sauce: Heat olive oil in a large skillet. Sauté onion and garlic until softened. Add ground beef and cook until browned; drain grease. Stir in marinara sauce and simmer.
  3. Mix Cheese Layer: In a bowl, combine ricotta, sour cream, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper.
  4. Layer the Dish: In the greased baking dish, layer half of the ziti, half of the sauce, and half of the ricotta mixture. Repeat layers. Top with mozzarella and Parmesan.
  5. Bake: Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove foil and continue baking for 10-15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  6. Rest and Serve: Let the dish stand for 10 minutes before serving to allow layers to set.
