Layered taco salad

This salad is a perfect dish for those who love a little flair in their food, combining the best of both worlds: tasty tacos and refreshing salads.

  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 6 1x

Ingredients

Scale

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1 head iceberg lettuce, chopped
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 1 can (15 oz) black beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 cup corn kernels, cooked
  • 1/2 red onion, diced
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup salsa
  • 1 cup crushed tortilla chips

Instructions

  1. Cook the Beef: In a skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Drain the excess fat and add taco seasoning as per the package instructions.
  2. Begin Layering: In a large glass bowl or trifle dish, start by layering half the lettuce at the bottom.
  3. Add the Fillings: Continue with layers of seasoned beef, tomatoes, bell pepper, black beans, corn, onion, and cheese.
  4. Repeat Layers: Repeat the layers once more, ending with the remaining lettuce on top for a fresh finish.
  5. Garnish: Top the salad with evenly spread dollops of sour cream and salsa. Right before serving, sprinkle the crushed tortilla chips over the top to keep them crisp.
