Fried Cabbage with Sausage

Cabbage and sausage are truly a perfect match and never more so than when fried together in this Cabbage and Sausage Skillet. I’ve made endless dishes combining these two ingredients, but when I saw this simple recipe inside my friend Gina’s new cookbook, One and Done, I knew it needed to happen soon.


1 tablespoon olive oil

1 large onion chopped

1 pound kielbasa sausage cut into 1 inch pieces

1 medium head cabbage chopped

2 tablespoons butter

1 pinch salt and pepper


Add olive oil to large frying pan over medium high heat. Add onion and kielbasa, cooking until onion is soft and kielbasa is slightly browned on both sides – about 10 minutes.

Add cabbage and butter and stir. Cover and cook over medium heat for 25-30 minutes, or until cabbage is wilted. Add salt and pepper to taste.

Serve over mashed potatoes or egg noodles.
