Ingredients
Scale
- 1 unsliced loaf of sourdough bread (or any large round bread)
- 1 cup Monterey Jack cheese, shredded
- 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 2 teaspoons poppy seeds (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
- Preheat Oven and Prepare Bread: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Take the loaf of bread and cut it diagonally into 1-inch diamonds, but be careful not to slice through the bottom crust.
- Mix Filling: In a bowl, combine the Monterey Jack and cheddar cheeses with the chopped green onions.
- Stuff the Bread: Gently separate the bread pieces and stuff the cheese mixture deep into the cuts.
- Prepare Butter Mixture: In a separate bowl, mix the melted butter with garlic powder and poppy seeds, if using.
- Apply Butter Mixture: Drizzle the butter mixture evenly over the bread, making sure it seeps into the cuts.
- Bake: Wrap the bread in foil and place it on a baking sheet. Bake covered for 15 minutes, then uncover and continue baking for another 10 minutes, or until the cheese is thoroughly melted and the bread is crispy.
- Serve: Serve the bread warm, encouraging guests to pull apart the individual pieces.
