  • Preparation Time: 10 minutes
  • Cooking Time: 50-60 minutes
  • Servings: 6-8

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup (113 grams) unsalted butter, melted and cooled
  • 1 1/4 cups (275 grams) + 2 tablespoons granulated sugar, divided
  • 1 cup (120 grams) all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (225 ml) whole milk
  • 3 cups (430 grams) blackberries, fresh or frozen
  • Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream, for serving (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round baking dish with butter or nonstick spray.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, combine 1 cup of the sugar, flour, baking powder, and salt. Stir these dry ingredients together to ensure even distribution.
  3. Add Wet Ingredients: Pour in the milk and whisk until just combined. Then add the melted butter and whisk again until the batter is smooth.
  4. Assemble the Cobbler: Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish. Evenly scatter the blackberries over the top of the batter. Sprinkle 1/4 cup of sugar over the berries.
  5. Bake: Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 50-60 minutes. The edges should turn golden and crispy as it bakes. With about 10 minutes of baking time left, sprinkle the remaining 2 tablespoons of sugar over the top to add a bit more crunch and sweetness.
  6. Serve: Allow the cobbler to cool slightly before serving. Serve warm, ideally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for added indulgence.
