- 1 package refrigerated pie crusts (2 crusts)
- 1 cup finely chopped peeled apples
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon milk
- Coarse sugar for sprinkling
Instructions
- Prepare for Baking: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cut Pie Crusts: Unroll the pie crusts on a flat surface. Use a cookie cutter to cut out circles.
- Mix the Filling: In a bowl, combine the chopped apples, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Assemble the Cookies: Place a small spoonful of the apple mixture in the center of half of the pie crust circles. Cover each with another pie crust circle, and press the edges together with a fork to seal.
- Apply Egg Wash: Mix the beaten egg with milk. Brush this mixture over the top of each cookie and sprinkle with coarse sugar.
- Bake: Place the cookies on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Cool: Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
