Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup cold butter, cubed
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1 apple, peeled and finely chopped
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- Additional sugar and cinnamon for topping
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Cut in the Butter: Add the cold, cubed butter to the flour mixture. Use a pastry blender or two knives to cut the butter into the flour until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add Milk: Stir in the milk just until the dough comes together. Avoid overmixing.
- Roll Out Dough: Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead briefly. Roll it out to about 1/2-inch thickness.
- Prepare Apple Filling: In a small bowl, combine the chopped apple, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Add the Apple Mixture: Spread the apple mixture evenly over the rolled-out dough. Roll the dough up tightly like a jelly roll and slice into 12 equal pieces.
- Prepare for Baking: Place the sliced biscuits on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the tops with melted butter and sprinkle with a mix of sugar and cinnamon.
- Bake to Perfection: Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and fragrant.
- Serve Warm: Let the biscuits cool slightly before serving warm.
